Let the NFL Playoff Beards Begin?
"Shaving cream, be nice and clean, shave every day, and you'll always look keen."
The playoff beard. One of the most iconic yet ridiculous things in all of sports, is about to kick off another season. This year expect to see an influx of beards league-wide as the "superstition" looms around locker rooms, huddles, and team bathrooms.
Last season, the main candidates included, Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers, and Andy Reid. All great candidates, but not nearly enough to start any real competition in the league.
Personally, I would like to see Indianapolis Colts center Jeff Saturday support the beard. Who cares if it makes him look like Hagrid; we need a bit of joy in this league, right?
Jokes aside, I for one welcome the new side sport into the game. It brings in a new found excitement when the NFL on Fox first opens their show with a shot of Andy Reid standing on the sideline, with a beard big enough to keep a dog warm for a month.
Bring on the beards; we love them. Kudos to whoever made it a great tradition, and this year, let's hope for some new and interesting prospects.
If my Jeff Saturday wish comes true, hell, it might be better than winning the Super Bowl itself.
