Boston College 13 USC 10 Referees 14, A Bowl Game Robbed By Officials
You want to think that instant replay can fix a mistake. You hate it when a game is decided by a bad call.
But tonight in the Emerald Bowl, instant replays didn't overturn the official's mistakes and the referees decided this game.
I have never witnessed a game where both commentators were as publicly stunned by the bad officiating and the lack of conclusive visual evidence to overturn a bad decision. USC was credited with long pass that an official ruled a catch that the video showed was not.
Seven points to the refs on the ensuing TD.
Later a punt was touched by a USC player, video showed it and they ruled that a BC player blocked the USC player into it when that was not the case. The USC player was pushing the BC player.
Fourteen points to the refs on the ensuing TD. It also kept BC from scoring one of their own. That was a 14-point swing.
It was almost like watching professional wrestling in that the fix seemed so clearly to be on.
Boston College proved they could manhandle the USC Trojans. But they couldn't beat them and the refs.
