With Urban Meyer Leaving, Will Steve Spurrier Throw His Hat in The Gator Ring?

If you are a South Carolina Gamecock athletic department official right now, are you making a mental note to look up the clauses that allow Spurrier to leave? Are you wondering at age 64 if he would be willing to leave South Carolina to end career at home in Florida?
Many are speculating just that. Many are also wondering if Florida would want to start over with a 64 year old coach, no matter if it is the famous prodigal son who led Florida back to the greatness it still enjoys.
Considering the average college coach only stays in one place for an average of four years, and given Spurrier's health, it would seem very possible to get another seven to eight years from him at least and let him groom a successor.
Though the reporters will bandy about names for days upon days for the successor to the Florida head coaching position, if you're at South Carolina, there is just a little reason to be worried.
Spurrier found out that great coaching can't get great results at a school that doesn't attract the same caliber of players that the schools like Florida and Alabama attract.
At Florida, the area was so fertile with recruits, Spurrier simply had to almost sit and just let them come to him. Recruiting at South Carolina has been much harder and a lot more frustrating.
Will we see Spurrier's name throw into the mix? I wouldn't count it out. He may even just use it for a raise for him or his staff as he's done before. After all, he is the Old Ball Coach and he does know the tricks.
