A week has passed since my last attempt at predicting the future and as anyone who read it will tell you, I got it completely wrong!

Turkey didn't get knocked out did they?

Switzerland were good enough to win but the Czechs weren't good enough to get through!

And finally, Sweden were useless after all!

So where does that leave us?

Well Turkey are the Euro 2008 surprise package and fair play to them. They have come back from the dead not just once but twice to keep themselves in Europe's biggest show!

2-0 down to the Czech Republic and with time running out, the Turks staged the ultimate comeback to win 3-2. Absolutely fantastic!

Surely though my other tournament pick Croatia wouldn't suffer a similar fate?

Well wrong again Andrew!

After a goal less 90 minutes the game went to extra time with Croatia snatching victory in the 119th minute!

That is to say, they should've gone on to win and probably would've against anyone but the resilient Turks.

I salute Turkey for their team work and the passionate fighting spirit that has made their tournament such a success!

Good luck to them in the semi finals and I really hope this article doesn't end their winning streak.

But if you're looking for an overall winner, I'd better say Germany. After all, I've suggested everyone else!

  1. I can't wait to see the Turkish get romped in the semis by the Germans! Hamit Altintop should be playing for Germany always, he's been there since a child!

    1. Haha you could well be right but I hope the Turks can cause another upset!

    2. I'm calling a 3-1 Germany victory!

  2. I heard an Arsenal fan saying Wenger should 'move upstairs' and let Fatih Terim have a go because he's just ridicously lucky. Euro 2008 has definitely been great even without England. Turkey and Russia fully deserve to be in the semis just for their bouce-back-ability. Definitely better than Greece in 2004.

    1. They certainly do Raphael.

  3. From the get go I`ve said that Euro in a nutshell is Germany - Italy. The rest is ordinary.

I have survived all the Dutch flare the Portuguese media fantasy and now only the Spanish are left as contenders to kill my joy.

  4. Germany and Italy are just as ordinary....

  5. Whats the betting Italy will scrape through now and win it? After all the talk of the Italians being too old etc. they go to beat Germany or the Turks in the final? Be just like them to do it aswell.

    1. Yeah that would be boring for such an unpredictable tournament to end in such a typical way.

    2. Barring the occasional fluke....Germany get to the final almost 50% of the time and won it three times.

  6. What odds a Turkey Russia final, that would stick the bigwigs in their place.
