First all the best wishes to Urban Meyer and may he recover from whatever health issues he is facing. Maybe he will return to football someday.

With this sudden announcement where does that leave the Gators? Who will be the new head coach. Here is a quick list:

Gary Patterson, TCU

Chris Petersen, Boise State

Kyle Whittingham, Utah

There is no denying what these three have done on a national scale.

Whittingham followed Meyer as the Utah coach and could have an in if Meyer has a say in who the next Gator coach is.

Tommy Tuberville formerly of Auburn. He knows the SEC and has stated he would like to return to coaching but only to a school in one of the BCS conferences.

Charlie Strong Louisville. He hasn’t even been the head coach for but a couple weeks but maybe Florida makes him a better offer.

I am sure that in the following days and weeks more names will come up but I would expect these to bee some of the first mentioned.
