World Number 1 Pete Sampras , proved to be far too strong for the British Number 1 Tim Henman in the Quarter Finals of the ATP Event in Vienna Austria, in 1998.

The duo had faced each other in the Wimbledon Semi Finals earlier that year and on that occasion Sampras emerged victorious in 4 sets and the American went on to win his 5th Wimbledon crown a few weeks later.

In Vienna Sampras cruised through the 1st set 6-0 and seemed on course for na easy victory.

Henman was a bit more competetive in the 2nd set but Sampras still won it 6-3 to claim a straightforward 6-0 6-3 victory.

Sampras went on to end 1998 as the World number 1 for a record 6th year in a row he held of a stern challenge from Marcelo Rios of Chile.

Sampras and Henman met 3 more times in their career with the American wining 2 out of those 3 meetings.
