A couple of weeks ago I read an article that suggested that Derrick Rose should be traded from the Chicago Bulls because right now he is a great talent on a bad team. After reading this I began to wonder, what team could use an up and coming PG that could really be the floor general for a team. The perfect solution are the Portland Trailblazers. This is a team that has a pretty solid answer at every position except for the point guard spot. Now being a Portland fan I am tired of seeing a past prime Andre Miller and a vastly over rated bench player like Steve Blake as "starting" point guard.
Looking at he Bulls roster I tried to come up with a position that they really need. I found that their biggest need would be the starting SG position. They as of now have John Salmon's as there starter. Now don't get me wrong I love him as bench player but Salmon's shouldn't be starting for anyone right now.
The Portland T-blazers posses a key for both team and his name is Jerryd Bayless. Bayless as of right now is a bench player that the Blazers sometimes use as starter when Brandon Roy is injured. The Blazers intended Bayless to be the PG of the future, but realistically Bayless is a combo guard/2-guard at heart. He shouldn't be used as a PG. Recently when given the minutes Bayless has been producing more than anyone thought he would. (Like on December 24 against the Spurs he puts up 31 points filling in for an injured Roy!).
Now here is how the trade should happen. The Blazers receive Derrick Rose from the Bulls. He automatically becomes the starting point guard for the Blazers filling in an area that has haunted the Blazers for the last half decade.
The Bulls receive Jerryd Bayless, and either their choice of Travis Outlaw, Blake, or Andre Miller and, the Blazers first round pick in 2010. Bayless becomes the automatic starter for the Bulls at the 2-guard and doesn't get stuck behind Brandon Roy. Meanwhile the Bulls can move Kirk Hinrich to the starting PG spot where be produced very solid number consistently before Rose was on the team. They also pick up an ever so valuable sixth man in whoever they chose. Salmons can be moved to the bench where he has had his most success.
Now I'm not going to say that this trade would ever happen and I can almost guarantee you that it won't. Yet I believe that this trade really could help both teams drastically and really improve their chances for winning. I believe that Bayless has shown that he has way to much talent to be just a bench player. When Roy gets healthy again he will take that 2-guard spot back and I can't see Bayless getting a shot at the starting PG spot. This trade works both ways and gives each team what they really need.
**please if you do decide to leave comments, respect that fact that this is a fantasy trade article and will probably never happen, but I would like to here some other's opinions about the subject!**
