New Zealand pace bowler Shane Bond has announced his retirement from Test Cricket, saying his body could no longer cope with the demand of five-day matches.
The 34-year-old will still play One Day Internationals and Twenty20 matches for the Black Caps.
Bond only played 18 tests, partly due to injury and partly due to being banned for two years for playing in the Indian Cricket League for the Delhi Giants, but finished with 87 wickets at an average of 22.09.
His last involvement in a Test Match came in the first game of the series against Pakistan in November, when he finished with match figures of 8-153 before injury ruled him out of the remaining two games.
The paceman made his Test debut in 2001 against Australia and his best bowling performance came against Zimbabwe in 2005 taking 6-51.
The Christchurch fast bowler will be remembered for combining pace, regularly nudging the 150km/h mark, and deadly accuracy, making him trouble the best batsmen.
Bond will be hoping to add to his 138 One Day International and 17 Twenty20 wickets when the Kiwis face Australia in late February.
