So Bryan Murray finally came to a contract agreement with versatile centre, Chris Kelly. Details are apparently for four years at $2.1 million per season.
Signing Chris Kelly is a good step forward for the Sens. He is defensively responsible, he can play the PK, PP, and any one of 4 lines. He has showed a nice (not extravagant) scoring touch.
Although players do not come cheap anymore, 2.1 million for Chris Kelly is a little over the top. However is 4 - 5k really that much of a big deal?
As far as centre's go he is versatile, reliable, and possibly a big locker-room leader down the road. I wonder if this will spell the end for a player or two down the road. ALA Antoine Vermette? Only time will tell.
