The quarterfinals of Euro 2008 are underway.

So far it has been an intriguing competition.

France was the disappointment of the season as they lost to Italy and Netherlands and drew with Romania.

Germany knocked out Portugal again with a magnificent display.

Portugal thought they had learned their lesson by bringing back the big name players that had been rested for the game they lost to Switzerland.

Germany started the competition uncomfortably, but played like the giants they were.

Croatia and Turkey are currently drawing although there was a moment where Croatia will think they are unlucky to have scored as the ball hit the post and the rebound went over. Croatia is the underdogs of the competition and the giant.

They topped Group B with a perfect record.

The teams that wins will go onto play Germany.

Only two other teams accomplished that this competition: Spain and Netherlands.

The match tomorrow is between on fire Netherlands and Russia. This game could be interesting as Russia defeated both Sweden and Greece although Netherlands are in fine form having defeated Italy, France and Romania to top Group C.

Sunday is the last day of the quarterfinals.

Spain v Italy.

The Spanish are also in fine form. Topping Group D with a perfect record, Fernando Torres and David Villa in fantastic form. The Spanish are craving another championship.

Whilst the Euros’ have been going on so have the world cup qualifiers and surprisingly Brazil is fifth of their group having won two drawn three and lost one.
