It is the end of the Mike Kelly era in Winnipeg.
Kelly, who had spent only one season as head coach of the Bombers, was relieved of his duties today following a season in which his team finished with a record of 7-11.
The move coincides with Kelly's arrest earlier in the day. The Winnipeg Free Press reported that Kelly was arrested in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania and was charged with assault and harassment following a domestic dispute. The report also indicated that Kelly's former girlfriend Andrea Peterson was involved.
There has been no word on whether or not the arrest led to Kelly's firing.
Kelly, a former offensive coordinator for the Bombers, came into the season with a lot of coaching experience under his belt. Unfortunately, this experience did not lead the Bombers to success.
