TNA Knockout Christy Hemme Has Retired

Ivan BlancoCorrespondent IDecember 17, 2009

According to her podcast last night,TNA Knockout Christy Hemme has retired from in-ring competition. As of last week, it looks as though she's found a new niche in TNA as a backstage announcer.

Hemme's career highlights include a photo shoot in Playboy, and winning the 2004 Raw Diva Search, which also earned her Wrestlecrap's Gooker Award that year, although she shared the latter with every other Diva Search contestant.

Hemme was another in a long-line of castoffs picked up by TNA, and I have to wonder what good having her on board has been. In April, it will be a full four years since she's made her debut, and I've yet to hear anyone outside of the IWC even mention her name.

Hell, even Don West introduced her as "Playmate of the Month for April, 2005," which didn't exactly do much for her already questionable reputation.

I have nothing against the girl personally, but she never struck me as having the charisma or ability to make it in the ring. Here's hoping with her new position that she channels Gene Okerlund and not Missy Hyatt or *shudder*, Pamela Paulshock.
