But Scottish football is a whole new ball game.

The 50,000 Rangers fans inside Ibrox—myself included—went a little quiet as the visitors' lineup was announced.

Ronaldinho!

Messi!

Thierry Henry!

How on earth were we going to cope with that?

We managed.

The game started with Barcelona pressing the Rangers defense, and it would stay that way all night. The three superstar forwards were a handful, to say the least.

Barca had numerous chances in the first half. The closest they came was on a glorious free kick from Ronaldinho, which was tipped brilliantly onto the bar.

The Rangers defenders put their bodies on the line to keep the game scoreless going into halftime. The second period saw Rangers increase their possession time, but the Barcelona attack was still relentless.

Alan McGregor pulled off another few saves before Henry missed an absolute sitter from yards out. Barry Ferguson and then Daniel Cousin went "oh-so-close" for Rangers before the final whistle, but the game ended in a draw.

And 50,000 fans went home happy.

Another Scottish dream continues!
