You know the feeling if you're a guy. There's a girl you really like. She's extremely attractive. The only problem is she doesn't notice you as much as you would like.
Now if this gal is special, you go out of your way to show her what a great guy she's missing out on. If your methods do not work, try a new one or if that fails, it might be time to move on to other fish in the sea.
I guess nobody told Vince McMahon that. McMahon and WWE are trying to lure the mainstream each and every week, which is understandable. The other people they are trying to reach out to is the old RAW and Smackdown! viewers the company lost after the Attitude Era. Of course, there is also the core group of fans, who like myself, will stick with the product through good, bad, and god-awful (think Katie Vick) times.
Bringing in Floyd Mayweather for Wrestlemania was a great move on the McMahons' part. He had natural charisma and went toe to toe with one of their most marketable athletes. You know, that seven-foot guy that's on that "extreme" show no one watches on that alien channel no one watches either?
I guess you figured that was the Big Show, a perfect example of WWE's booking flaws.
WWE Creative Meeting
Vince: Dammit, how can we get back our momentum from 'Mania?!
Creative: How about having the Big Show feud with the Undertaker or Orton?
Vince: That is ridiculous!!! People want see Triple H finish Orton off!!!
Creative:
- B/R Ticket Guide
Vince: Oh right!! Well, we should give people something new. What do you have in mind?
Creative: I was thinking about having Kennedy challenge Triple H for the title. He's got great charisma and this Burchill feud isn't clicking with the fans. Maybe Jeff Hardy?
Vince: HAHAHAHAHAH!!!! You guys are so funny. I know everybody is thinking. JOHN CENA vs TRIPLE H! Night of Champions! That's what people want! Let's party likes it's 2006!
Creative: Won't fans be tired of the same wrestlers dominating, though? Not that your son-in-law is old or anything...I'm just saying...
Vince: They'll watch, dammit!!!
Creative: And if they don't....what are we going to do? Pay them?
Vince: DAMMIT you're a genius!! I'll give away a f***load of money every week. That way nobody can notice how awful we book our midcard wrestlers and focus on Cena-Triple H at Night of Champions!! Hell, we'll bring back the draft for kicks!!
End of Creative Meeting
The Big Show is not the only victim of WWE's booking flaws. Nor is Jeff Hardy (Harvey for you Adamle fans), Mr. Kennedy, or Triple H's favorite (NOT) Carlito. I mean they are victims. The biggest victims though, are the fans.
Lazy booking, super-short TV matches, and pretty much the same guys revolving in the main event picture make it hard for even the most hardcore fans to watch RAW, Smackdown!, and ECW on the Alien network. So if all else fails, you would think WWE would get the message and maybe change things up a bit.
I guess Vince's definition of change is making his flagship program into a gameshow. It's not like wrestling fans want, you know, wrestling or anything. Giving away millions of dollars is supposed to get fans to pay attention to your product, but when that product sucks, the results vary. Ratings are not exactly high for RAW these days, despite all the hype for the contest.
It seems to me that this Million Dollar Mania not only cuts into valuable match and promo time for wrestlers, but comes off extremely desperate to lure fans of all groups and categories. The least McMahonamania could do is create fresh, exciting match-ups and good product for people to watch, while they "anxiously" wait for each money giveaway. Maybe that's what can get more fans to watch after all (I can hear Vince in my head saying "Nah...").
This Million Dollar Mania doesn't make WWE look good. It makes it look like a second-rate game show wrestling program that is desperate for viewers and completely missing the mark. And one last thing, how about some damn promotional time?! Ric Flair returned this past Monday with NO HYPE. And fans say TNA has WCW tendencies...I just hope WWE realizes the draft may create brief excitement, but fresh, new, hip?
That's another story.

Actually, F, it does make it look good. Here's a thought: If you entered this "contest," got the call, and won the money, would you still think that this isn't a good idea? Exactly. It's cool that McMahon is doing something to keep people watching. And considering what is going on SmackDown!, ECW being only an hour, and your boycott of TNA, what else you gonna watch? American Idol?
As far as match times, he changes the lives of eight individuals every Monday night, and the match count is still the same. Considering that some of the matches aren't that good anyway, and most of them leave you with a bad taste in your mouth, how can you honestly complain about booking?
McMahon doesn't do what you want and you're not happy. He does what you want and you're still not happy. Make up your mind Mister F, because you are not making a logical argument.

I see your point Ron, but the booking is just not that great. I mean HBK-Y2J is good and so is Cena-Triple H, but everyone else seems to be in limbo. I hope the draft can create new match ups, but most of all, new stars. That's what WWE really needs to do. And yes, if I won money I'd be very happy, but for the people who dont win....They could at least put on some quality wrestling. Appreciate the feedback.
