Fight Of The Century

UFC 79 in Las Vegas, Nevada will we center stage for every fight fan around the globe. Matt Serra v.s Matt Hughes for the welterweight crown will actually take a backseat to an announcement made by UFC president Dana White this evening at the 2007 SpikeTV Scream Awards. Chuck "Iceman" Liddell v.s Wanderlei "Axe Murderer" Silva will headline this nights series of fights.

Fight fans have been waiting for this fight since 2003 when Liddell was entered into a Pride tournament that Silva was apart of, Liddell was defeated by present UFC light heavyweight Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and never reach the bout with Silva.

This years UFC aquisition of the Pride fighting championships and the signing of Wanderlei Silva had fans in a frenzy about the possiblity of the two juggernauts stepping into the Octagon for the fight of the century.

We all know that Wanderlei was going to fight this December and assumed it would be against Keith Jardine after he defeated Liddell a month ago. However with tonights announcement, I for one was in awe that this fight was actually going to happen, being the hardcore Liddell fan that I am, this fight is a bit scary, but needed to get the Iceman back on the winning track in a big way by taking out a title contender.

Both former light heavyweight champs for their respective organizations both lost their titles to the two combatants that fought for the unified light heavyweight crown, Quinton Jackson and Dan Henderson. Henderson stopped Silva during a Pride Fight to gain the light heavyweight Pride belt and Jackson KO'd Liddell in the first round to win the UFC light heavyweight belt. For Liddel and Silva this fight creates a ladder back to a title shot sometime next year if theyh both keep winning.

Final thoughts about this fight I'm going to ask for your imput because I love descussion. How do you see this fight panning out? As well as the Serra/Hughes fight
