Nascar:The Roller Coaster Ride That Is Clint Bowyer's Season

In 2007 Clint Bowyer was one of the most pleasant surprise stories in the Sprint Cup garage. The Emporia, Kansas native got his first career victory at New Hampshire in September, and he finished third overall in the Chase For The Championship. Now on to 2008, where it seems the team is suffering a bit of a hangover from last season’s success.

Bowyer started the year off with mediocre finishes in the first three races of the season at Daytona (24th), California (19th), and Las Vegas (28th). At the end of that stretch, the number 07 team was mired 24th in the point standings.

Then came that championship form, Bowyer clicked off an amazing run during the next seven races, scoring a win at Richmond, and never finishing outside the Top 10. Bowyer would end this stretch of the season fourth in the point standings, and the team was back on the up, but that would all change.

Since Richmond 6 weeks, ago Bowyer hasn't finish in the Top 10 even once. His highest finish since his second career Sprint Cup victory was 15th the following week at Darlington. He hasn't even finished higher than 25th in the past four races.

As a result of this latest twist on the roller coaster ride that is Clint Bowyer's 2008 season, he is now sitting 12th in points, right at the cutoff point for the chase with several other hungry drivers breathing down his neck.

Bowyer had better get up on the wheel, he's got eleven races left to secure a spot in the chase, but if this current trend is any indication, it will be a daunting task. Lets not forget though this team has already overcome bad luck early in the year by staying calm and focusing, I'm sure they can start doing it again.
