Real Madrid Cantera Update (Dec. 12, 2009)
I got a great response for the previous installment of the "Real Madrid Cantera Update" series, even got an offer from "Real Madrid Talk's" Adam Bader to write the series for his blog, so Madridistas expect this series to continue but don't expect this as a regular series (as in weekly, fortnightly, monthly, etc), the news about Cantera is hard to come by and doesn't come at a constant rate but don't worry, whenever enough news is collected, I'll publish the "Real Madrid Cantera Update."
» Pablo Sarabia Sent Back From The Castilla Before Even Training One Day
In a totally unexpected way, Pablo Sarabia (17)—the star of the academy and currently in the Juvenil A was called up to play and train with the Real Madrid Castilla starting Monday (Dec. 7), postponement of his school hours were also agreed upon and it was expected that Sarabia would debut in the match against Toledo this Sunday (Dec. 13).
But the fairytale was not to be, it was learned on Monday that the Cantera officials do not want to rush the 17 year old left sided winger and want him to undergo the "correct" development process, Pablo Sarabia will continue to play for Juvenil A and will play a few matches here and there for Real Madrid C.
Whereas his team-mate of the Spanish U-17 team of Athletic Bilbao—Iker Muinain scored against Valencia on Sunday (Dec. 6), disheartening really!
» Marcos Alonso On The List Of Players Traveling To Mestalla
Marcos Alonso—grandson of the legendary Marcos Alonso Imaz (won five European cups) is a left-back who was promoted to Real Madrid Castilla at the beginning of this year.
Since joining, Marcos has started all the matches for the Castilla and has been a consistent performer and was recently rewarded for his performances as he was named in the 19-man list of players traveling to Valencia for the match on Saturday after Marcelo got injured in training.
» Back-To-Back Wins For Real Madrid Castilla
Back-to-back wins against Lanzarote (A: 3-4) and Universidas Las Palmas (H: 3-2) has put Real Madrid Castilla on 12 position after Gameweek 16.
Castilla were cruising in the game against bottom of the table Lanzarote and were 4-1 up midway through the second half but gave away 2 late goals and made the scoreline read a much different story despite dominating the whole game, much like their senior counterparts.
Scorers for Castilla: Luis Hernandez (15'), Juan Carlos (29', 46'), Cristian (57'). Scorers for Lanzarote: Ruben (P: 37'), Maikel (69'), Ruben (75').
The second win for Castilla was a real confidence booster as they came back from a 1-2 deficit at half-time against second place Universidas Las Palmas and won the match 3-2.
Scorers for Castilla: Marcos Alonso (10'), Rodrigo (59'), Cristian (83'). Scorers for Universidas Las Palmas: Sergio (P: 20'), Ariday (39').
It is great to see Marcos Alonso coming up the ranks pretty quickly, but we all know he's not going to feature in the game let alone start the game, but anyway I wish Marcos all the luck in the world, after all we do need a left-back!
Hoping Pablo Sarabia joins the Castilla soon and Castilla win their match against Toledo. Hala Madrid!
