Manchester United are facing a major midfield crisis, with Paul Scholes ruled out of action for tonight's Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev.

Scholes suffered a knee injury in training at the Olympic Stadium last night, and will have a scan upon his return to Manchester to discover the exact extent of the problem.

"Paul will miss tonight's match," Alex Ferguson told MUTV. "He got a knee injury in training last night and he will have a scan when we get him home.

"It is unfortunate, but these things happen and I am sure we have enough experience to cope."

Ferguson will have a choice between John O'Shea, Anderson, and Fletcher to replace Scholes in the midfield.

  1. Damn....Very bad news for us. I think it will be a three man midfield then..with Nani and Ronaldo in the left and right flanks, Giggs as CF. Else, i can see O'shea partnering anderson in the 4-4-2 formation,
