Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vaclav Prospal, Breaking News

The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired the rights to forward Vaclav Prospal in exchange for Nashville’s seventh-round pick (previously acquired), 196 thoverall, in this weekend’s NHL Entry Draft, Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster announced today.

Should the Lightning sign Prospal this summer, Philadelphia will also receive a fourth round pick in 2009. ( NHL.com)

This is great news for Flyers fans because of two reasons:

1. This shows that Simon Gagne is showing great signs of recovery to come back next season fully healthy. This is great news because he is overall a much better player than Prospal.

2. This trade gives the Flyers a much needed 196th pick from Nashville. The Flyers need as many picks as they can get. This was a good move by GM Paul Holmgren and great move for the for the organization to continue to move forward.
