Hopeful? Ingram Should Roll Through NYC
The Heisman Trophy Award ceremony is this Saturday night, Toby Gerhart (Stanford), Mark Ingram (Alabama), Colt McCoy (Texas), Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska) and Tim Tebow (Florida) will descend into New York City. Four will go home empty handed and one will join the most elite college football fraternity.
The University of Alabama's Mark Ingram should hoist the twenty five pound memorial statue. He is the best player on the best team in college football this year (thus far). Ingram's 15 touchdowns and over 1500 yards are the tangibles that carried the Crimson Tide to an undefeated season and a shot their 13th national championship. The intangible is that he did this playing in the Southeastern Conference, arguably the toughest conference in America to carry a team to an undefeated season. The award is for the "most outstanding college football player this season," not for the most outstanding player in a single game or an award for a career. The most outstanding college football player this season was Mark Ingram.
