Finally Arsenal fans can breathe: the prolonged speculation as to Samir Nasri's destination has come to an end.

The signing was supposed to take place before the start of the Euro 2008 tournament but was put off due to some "wage difficulties". Further problems seemed to dent Arsenal's chances of signing the "the new Zinedine Zidane", as Athletico Madrid joined the race for the Frenchman.

However, Arsenal have emerged on top and won the race (more like a marathon) and Arsene Wenger can now claim signing number two.

The 20 year old french midfielder has reportedly signed a four year contract at the Emirates according to the BBC and various sources. With France knocked out of the European Championship, a formal statement is expected to be released within the coming days.

Things are beginning to take a beautiful shape for Arsenal already and all I can say is, Welcome Home Samir!

  1. I was beginning to wonder if ever was going to join you lot. Had you waited a little longer, he might have been snatched off right under your noses. Great going Arsene...

  2. I'm excited to see what Nasri can do! Arsene has a history of getting great French players, hopefully Nasri can be the next in line.

    1. Yeah I think Nasri will be good for Arsenal and I can't wait to see him during pre-season! Thanks for the edit.

  3. He had already signed a pre-contract before the Euros to join Arsenal, so it isn't a huge surprise that he's joined Arsenal now.. some more good news!

  4. Interestingly enough no other site except BBC Sport seems to have it not SkySports not SportingLife...Well,If it has gone through..then Arsene Wenger has done very well...Imagine Fabregas and Nasri..two of the youngest in the line of the world's best midfielders in the same team..

    1. BBC is the most reliable source for football news on the internet, Salaar - anyway, I always felt that it was a matter of when and not if - in the case of Nasri.

    2. fair enough.

  5. bravo bre nasri se ma i miri je veq nenshkruaj ma qpejt me arsenalin se ma mirte bjen

  6. I have seen very little of Nasri (about 3 games), but what I have seen has not impressed me at all, labelling anyone 'the new Zidane' is a massive burden (how many 'new Maradonas' have Argentina had? Saviola, Aguero, Messi, Riquelme etc etc).

I am not saying he will not be a huge success, but I certainly wouldn't expect wonders from a 21 year old in his first season. Give the kid a chance to settle Gooners!

    1. He's called the "New Zidane" more because of his Algerian roots rather than his playing style - so I guess that comparison, on footballing terms is null and void!

He's a good player and has excellent technical ability - unfortunately, he wasn't given the chance as far as France were concerned but for Marseille, he's been their marquee player.

  7. I think this will be a great sign for Arsenal! Nasri is legit!

  8. i think this will be a great sign for Arsenal but let us try experience players like ETO'RONALDINO,DECO, please Arsene wenger remember we wants trophy instead of building a squards ALHASSAN

    1. Very mature...

  10. un believable for us fans but its true dat gooners have at last made it,welcome ''new zidane'' and hope to get many stars as the ones thinking that they`ve left us in tears testify it

  11. he is hot.
i want to see him naked
