Always root for the underdog...unless they're up against Tiger Woods

Every year there seems to be some team from a little known town that no one has ever heard of but within days can name every person on the roster.  Davidson this past March is an example.  As is Appalachian State, the 2007 Golden State Warriors, and the ultimate Cinderella team in George Mason from a few years back.  These teams won over the hearts of viewers nationwide.  So this past weekend a golfer by the name of Rocco Mediate followed in those glass slipper footprints, right?

Tiger Woods is at the top of his sport.  Scratch that, Tiger Woods is at the top of every sport.  No athlete worldwide puts more time and effort into perfecting his or her craft.  Going on one month without playing golf, a bum left knee, and competing on father's day (a holiday that means more to Tiger than any other) Tiger Woods did what he was supposed to do: he won.  How is this possible?  Is he even human?  Can he be beaten?  For many the answer to those questions is simply no.

After watching Tiger pull off yet another amazing feat on the ninety-first hole I realized something: I'm not disappointed.  It wasn't as if the Patriots had won another regular season game, the Yankees won their twenty-seventh World Series, or Duke had made another final four run.  I was just as in awe of Tiger on Monday as I was years ago when he was a young golfer with lots of hype out of Stanford University.  So, sorry David.  After one heck of a weekend, you gave it your all.  Unfortunately, it was against the world's greatest Goliath.
