A source close to the Kansas football program has told ESPN's Joe Schad that Mark Mangino will not be retained by the school. The team is reportedly scheduled for a team meeting Thursday night and will be informed of the school's decision.

Schad broke the news with this tweet:

"Mark Mangino out at Kansas. Team meeting in minutes."

Mangino had been under intense scrutiny for allegedly mistreating some football players and AD Lew Perkins had been investigating the claims made by several players.

With recruiting kicking into high gear, the school presumably had to make a quick decision on whether or not they would retain Mangino so as not to affect some potential commits. Mangino reportedly resigned from his position and has agreed to a financial settlement.

The Kansas Jayhawks started the season with a blistering 5-0 record, but dropped seven straight. Mark Mangino's overall record is 50-48.

More updates as they become available.
