Jayvaughn Pinkston (6’6’’, 235) from Bishop Loughlin HS in Brooklyn, NY has verbally committed to Villanova and Coach Jay Wright. Pinkston was being recruited by several other Big East schools including St. John’s, Marquette, Seton Hall, and Rutgers, as well as SEC powerhouse Tennessee. Rivals rank Pinkston as the No. 15 forward prospect and No. 67 overall prospect for his class.

Pinkston said he was excited about the idea of being able to play alongside Dominic Cheek, Corey Fisher, Antonio Pena, and Maalik Wayns (with whom Pinkston is reportedly quite close).

Pinkston will join 6’9’’ center Markus Kennedy and 6’5’’ forward James Bell as the 2010 freshman class for the Wildcats next season. Mouph Yarou who was recently sidelined with a viral infection and may wind up red-shirting this season, could potentially be a freshman (eligibility) next season as well.

Villanova also has a verbal commitment from 6’3’’ guard Achraf Yacoubou for 2011.

Jay Wright continues to recruit extremely well from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, DC, and the surrounding areas. The Wildcats seem to reload every year that Wright is at the helm.
