Defending charges that the Gators have rooked their way to this year's SEC Championship game, that Urban Meyer is a fraud, and that it's Alabama's year have me all jumbled up this morning.

One of my teaching colleagues has unearthed her "Roll Tide" hoodie and is gallivanting through the halls of our school donning proudly her Crimson regalia.

While yet another, our athletic director, has just placed upon my desk a ripped-out page from the latest edition of Sports Illustrated. It's apparently (I haven't read nor seen the piece), an article about Urban Meyer. In it, there's a pictorial "time-line" of Meyer's transformation from assistant coach at Ohio State up to his current position as head coach at Florida. Do I have to contend with the "Sports Illustrated Curse," too?

Lastly, I'm getting emails from friends in Florida admonishing me not to fret as they make their collective journeys to Atlanta.

And I'm feeling like I'm on an island up her in Jersey trying to defend the honor of one of my alma maters.

Wondering if there's a happy ending for me and the Gator faithful.
