Gillingham lost once again away from home; this time it was at the hands of their London rivals Leyton Orient. The 3-1 defeat was their ninth away defeat in their last 10 League One matches.
Chaos on the road, and the fact that the team had to make their own way the ground, meant that some players didn't even make it to kick-off in time.
Simon Royce reportedly arrived at the ground on a mountain bike.
Referee Andy D'Urso refused to delay the game, meaning Gillingham started the game only just managing to field eleven players. The team sheet that was handed in had players who where still on the underground!
Mark Stimson was forced to make changes he wouldn't have normaly made. Febian Brandy only made the bench as he only arrived at the stadium at 7pm. Centre-back duo Josh Gowling and Matt Fry managed to beat Brandy to the game, by going on the Central Line tube, and only got to the ground at 6.55pm.
Throughout the game the Gills showed signs of scoring, but they were only able to get one past the O's keeper, and let in three.
Amazingly there were 711 Gillingham supporters at the game, the majority of whom were actually able to get to the ground before the players!
