Ryan Howard, who has been haunted by an inability to get hits for most of the season, had no such problems last night against the Red Sox.
Howard hit two home runs and had four RBI to lead the Phillies to a 8-2 victory over Boston.
After shortstop Jimmy Rollins led off the first inning with a solo shot, Howard hit a two-run homer to give the Phillies a quick 3-0 lead. Howard hit his second home run, a solo shot, in the third inning.
The score might look one-sided, but Boston actually had a chance in this one. The Red Sox were trailing only 4-2 before Mike Timlin gave up four runs in the sixth inning.
Goat of the Game: Timlin
I do not even want to discuss it. All I know is that Tim-Tim better get ready to see his walking papers. That is all Red Sox fans could talk about during his two-thirds of an inning pitched.
Next Game: Lester
Lester needs to find a way to stop this offense. Period.

Timlin should not have been brought in in that situation in the first place. We were only down 2 runs, and with timlin pitching the way he has lately, francona didnt give us much of a chance.
