Tennessee to Play Virginia Tech in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl

Joel Barker@joelabarkerSenior Writer IDecember 1, 2009

According to a the Knoxville News Sentinel, a source close to the situation has confirmed that Tennessee will play Virginia Tech in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta on New Year's Eve Night.

I predicted the Bowl to take Tennessee nearly two weeks ago, although Virginia Tech was not who I expected Tennessee to play.

Tennessee last met Virginia Tech in the 1995 Gator Bowl at the end of Peyton Manning's freshman year. The Vols won 45-23.

The game will be played at the Georgia Dome at 8:30pm on New Year's Eve.

The Chick-Fil-A bowl used to be known as the Peach Bowl.

The Vols last played in that bowl in 2002 and 2003. Both losses to Maryland and Clemson respectively.
