According to the New York Daily News, Notre Dame has fired Charlie Weis. Notre Dame finished the season at a disappointing 6-6, far from the preseason hype of a possible BCS bid. The Fighting Irish finished the season with four straight losses, including a 45-38 loss to Stanford last Saturday.

Weis' 35-27 record in South Bend is worst than Bob Davie and Ty Willingham, both of whom were previously fired. Cincinnati's Brian Kelly and Oklahoma's Bob Stoops seem to be at the top of Notre Dame's wish list to replace Weis.
