Nikolay Davydenko turned in a superb performance to stun the World Number 1 Roger Federer and reach the final of the ATP World Tour Finals for the 2nd year running.

Davydenko went into the match having never beaten Federer in 12 previous encounters, but the Russian began this match playing some extremely aggressive tennis and he was rewarded for his positive play as he won the 1st set 6-2.

Federer had to battle extremely hard in the 2nd set and he was rewarded as he won the 2nd set 6-4 to force the match into a 3rd and final set.

There was nothing to chose between the 2 men in the final set, and when Davydenko was serving to stay in the match at 4-5 Federer found himself 0-30 up and two points away from winning the match, but Davydenko battled back and broke Federer in the next game before serving out a superb 2-6 6-4 7-5 victory.

Despite this performance it is hard to see Davydenko upsetting the Odds and winning the title.
