In a recent interview conducted by FiveKnuckles.com UFC Light-Heavyweight newcomer Antonio Rogerio Nogueira discussed former UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin-- "It would be a good fight. Forrest is an aggressive guy who fights on his feet, and I like that. He also has excellent Jiu-Jitsu and absurd wind. It would be a really good fight."
Both men were victorious this past Saturday at UFC 106 with Nogueira dismanteling consensus Top Ten Light-Hevyweight Luiz Arthur Cane just before the two minute mark of the bout while Forrest Griffin returned to his winning ways in the Main Event avenging a previous loss to the outspoken Tito Ortiz.
Forrest Griffin sports a 17-6 overall record with victories over the likes of Quinton Jackson, Mauricio Rua & Tito Ortiz. Griffin first made a splash in the Mixed Martial Arts world by winning the first series of The Ultimate Fighter and continued his journey up the UFC ladder before finally securing his place in the history books capturing the UFC Light-Heavyweight Championship after a twenty-five minute war with with Quinton Jackson.
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is a veteran of the PRIDE organisation and has secured an impressive 18-3 record with victories over the likes of Kazushi Sakuraba, Alistair Overeem, Dan Henderson, Kazuhiro Nakamura & Guy Mezger just to name a few. He first made a name for himself in PRIDE then went on to compete in the Sengoku & Affliction organisations as well, now he rests his hat in the elite Mixed Martial Arts promotion in the world, the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
If this bout were to go ahead Forrest Griffin would be considered the heavy favorite with his overwheling heart and desire and the skill set to go along with it but Nogueira is very quick heavy handed boxer and is no slouch on the ground neither which would create a world of difficulty for Griffin.
