Be Fair To Notre Dame
Admittedly, Notre Dame football is not where I'd like for them to be. With that said, let's look at some facts: Notre Dame lost 6 games this year, but everyone one of these games was close enough that the Irish could have won each and everyone of them. They didn't, and a lot of this was due to a weak defense. The problem is the head coach needs to hire a defense coordinator and recruit defense players better than Charlie Weis did.
For these reasons, their record, and having never won a stellar game, Mr. Weis should be fired and replaced with another. The problem I have with anti-Notre Dame articles is that they never tell the whole story. The Big East was in shambles and lost the three best teams to another conference, the ACC; they were not going to be included in the BCS until Notre Dame stepped forward and allowed themselves to be the grand dame of the conference and be associated with them saving the Big East.
Notre Dame for their part accepted a smaller payoff when playing in a BCS game, and for this they get ridiculed. If Notre Dame is 9-3 and the number 2 team in the Big East is 9-3, why shouldn't the bowl be allowed to ask Notre Dame to represent instead? The audience will be larger, the attendence at the game greater, as Notre Dame has the biggest fan base of all schools. Face it even haters would watch hoping to see them lose.
Those haters NEVER mention that Notre Dame leads the nation in graduation rates for athletes or give the Irish any credit for any positive contribution that they have given to college football, proving my point that it is prejudice that directs their comments. Present an unbiased opinion of all teams and present both sides of every argument.
