People go to sporting events for many reasons. Some go because they want to watch a team triumph over their rivals, some people go to have a good time with their friends, and guys know what I'm talking about when sometimes we go for the cheerleaders. But what about the thing that people love the most? This is a countdown of the top 5 mascots in professional sports. Some mascots that just missed the countdown were Mr. Met and Super Mascot Rocky (Nuggets). If you would like to learn more about these mascots, go to http://www.mascothalloffame.com/

#5 Clutch the Bear (Houston Rockets)

Coming in at #5 on our countdown is the bear from Houston, Clutch. The name "Clutch" was introduced after the Rockets won a championship in 1995. Originally in the series the Rockets blew a 20 point lead, giving the nickname "Choke City" to the team. The Rockets went on to win the finals and became known as "Clutch City". The nickname Clutch was born. Although Clutch is known for being the 2005 NBA MOTY and a hall of famer, he is also known for something else. In I believe 2005, a man was turned down on a proposal in front of the crowd and the mascot ran out and grabbed the guy and on the way out grabbed him a beer.

#4 The Jazz Bear (Utah Jazz)

Coming in at #4 is the Jazz Bear from Utah. Jazz bear is one of the nicest bears of all time, having over 50 awards for charity service. Bear was a nominee for the 2006 Mascot Hall of Fame and now sits in the hall with the likes of Sparty and Big red.

#3 Slider (Cleveland Indians)

OMAHA, NE - MARCH 20: Bucky the Badger, mascot for the Wisconsin Badgers performs against the Cal State Fullerton Titans during the Midwest Region first round of the 2008 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament on March 20, 2008 at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Ne

Coming in at #3 is Slider from Cleveland. Most mascots in this countdown will feature history about them, but just for entertainment i will fill out info about Slider. His favorite movie is Muppets Take Manhattan; his favorite food is hot dogs, pizza, and cheeseburgers. His favorite drink is a strawberry shake.

#2 Phillies Phanatic (Philadelphia Phillies)

EAST LANSING, MI - OCTOBER 9: Sparty, the Michigan State University Spartans mascot, carries the American Flag during the game against the University of Illinois Fighting Illini at Spartan Stadium on October 9, 2004 in East Lansing, Michigan. Michigan St

Coming in at #2 on the countdown is the Phillies Phanatic from Philadelphia. In my opinion, the Phanatic is a legend, being inducted to the MHOF in 2005, the year the Mascot hall of fame was made. Although the Phanatic is known for good things, he is also known for some "naughty" things. A long time ago, a dodger’s manager got into a fight on national television with the Phanatic over him stomping a life-size doll of the manager. The Phills were also sued for 2.5 million after the Phanatic jumped on a mans back and gave him a big bear hug, giving the man severe back pains.

#1 The Famous Bird (No true team, sort of San Diego Padres)

The top spot on our countdown is the San Diego Chicken or the Famous Chicken. The Famous Chicken is not known for any certain team, but he is usually associated with the San Diego Padres. The chicken has appeared at many events and I will share them with you. He was at WrestleMania XV and Wrestle Mania 2000, although Pete Rose was the one in the costume at XV. From 1980-1983, The Famous Chicken was the star on the show The Baseball Bunch. The Famous Chicken was also one of the first inducted into the MHOF in 2005.
