Dunking is one of the most exciting elements of the NBA game today, and this slide show will show the top 10 dunkers in the league at the moment. Dunking is one of those things that requires skill and finesse—a guy like Shaq isn't going to make this list just because he can stuff the ball into the net using his big body.
10. Dwayne Wade
Wade is one of the league's best players and is very exciting to watch. His dunks are breathtaking, and he is a freakish athlete. He sure can leap up there and get some air.
9. Rudy Gay
Most people don't watch Memphis basketball, but if you do, watch this guy dunk. The way he gets up there with such power and athleticism is amazing.
8. Nate Robinson
This guy is TINY. Just look at the photo above. At 5'9, little Nate can certainly get up there. He must have springs on the bottom of his feet because this guy can really jump. I wasn't really convinced that he was an amazing dunker, but after watching him jump over Dwight Howard in last years dunk contest, he deserves this spot.
7. J.R Smith
JR is a highflying dunker with tomahawks and windmills to awe the crowd. He has been in the dunk contest and is right up there with the top dunkers in the league.
6. Josh Smith
This guy is a freak. He is strong, athletic, and his dunks are so powerful it's unbelievable. He could probably dunk over anybody in this league with his strength and hops.
5. Jason Richardson
Some of you are probably surprised to see Richardson this high up, let alone on this list. But when J-Rich puts it down, it's spectacular. Now that he's getting older he dunks less, but he's still a treat to watch.
4. Andre Iguodala
This guy is just sick. His dunks are just dunks that leave you in awe. He's one of those abnormally athletic guys who can dunk from places which seem unlikely—and makes it look good at the same time.
3. Vince Carter
It's just too bad that Carter doesn't dunk anymore. He is one of, if not the best dunker of all time. Coming out of high school, everybody saw that Carter was special. True to the hype, he has had some unbelievable dunks. From dunk contests to posterizing Frenchman Frederic Weiss, Carter has done enough to earn this spot without even dunking frequently anymore. I'm a Raptors fan so I instantly dislike him, but you have to respect his dunks.
2. Dwight Howard
For a big man, Dwight is in his own league. He just camps himself under the net, gets rebounds, and flushes them home. But his ability to perform nice dunks is only really seen in the dunk contest, in where he has awed many people. Dwight led the league in dunks last year, and there's no reason that will change this season.
1. LeBron James
You saw it coming. LeBron is a physical animal, and dunking is like second nature to him. The way this guy gets to the net and finishes with such ease is legendary. He's a gifted athlete and an incredible dunker. This year he has given his word to participate in the dunk contest, and that should be great sight to see.
