In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I thought I would share the moments in MMA that I am thankful for. Feel free to share yours.
I am thankful for the beating that GSP handed down on BJ Penn. With all of his incessant trash talking, one would have thought he was a guarantee to win.
Thankfully, GSP shut his mouth, well that is until Penn decided to act like a spoiled brat.
I am thankful that Diego Sanchez has made the move to the lightweight division, there are so many exciting fights that await the fans.
Next month the fans will get to see "The Nightmare" take on "The Prodigy" in a battle for the lightweight title at UFC 107.
I am thankful to Dan Henderson for almost knocking Michael Bisping's head into the third row at UFC 100. It was time for "The Count" to be out!
I am grateful for Brock Lesnar defeating Frank Mir in such a dominating fashion, I could do without his post fight antics and blatant disrespect for the sport and a fellow competitor.
I am thankful to the state of Pennsylvania for legalizing the great sport of mixed martial arts.
The trip to Philadelphia for UFC 101 was exciting even though the card was less than stellar.
I am grateful to all of the fans of MMA, without all of you, this great sport wouldn't be where it is today.
I am very thankful for the opportunity to interview Thiago Alves. Not only was he a great guy to talk to, the interview was picked up by a magazine and gave me exposure that I had been looking for.
A big thanks goes out to Paulo Thiago, that knockout of Josh Koscheck was awesome.
Who couldn't be grateful to Lyoto Machida for his domination of Rashad Evans. Machida put an end to the trash talking Evans with a series of punches that left Rashad out cold.
Scott Coker made us all very grateful by taking a chance and acquiring some of those Pro Elite contracts. Now we all have more free MMA to watch.
I am grateful that Matt Serra and Matt Hughes finally got to fight. The result isn't what I had hoped for but it was exciting none the less.
I am always thankful for the fact that win or lose, Wanderlei Silva goes all out and puts on a show. He is the man.
I am grateful for getting to watch two legends hook em up after years of wondering. Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira may be past their primes, but for one night, they turned back the clock.
I am thankful for the return of Vitor Belfort to his old stomping grounds. No matter what weight he fights at, we are in store for some explosive match-ups.
I am grateful for getting the opportunity to watch the Shogun that everyone had always raved about. He may have been on the wrong end of the decision, but he put on a masterful performance.
I am thankful for the American debut of Gegard Mousasi. Hopefully we will get to see him go up against the UFC's light heavyweight division.
I am grateful for the Diego Sanchez-Clay Guida thriller. That was one helluva fight.
I am thankful for the emergence of a few young fighters who possess a lot of potential. Four that come to mind are Anthony Johnson, Ryan Bader, Jon Jones, and Aaron Simpson.
I am grateful for the amazing UFC Fight Night card that took place in September. The main card had three fights that were all hotly contested and very exciting.
Nate Quarry vs. Tim Credeur, Carlos Condit vs. Jake Ellenberger, and last but not least, Gray Maynard vs. Roger Huerta. All three bouts are ones that I could watch again and again.
Most of all I am grateful to Dana White, the Fertitta brothers, and all of the great mixed martial artists who put their lives on the line to entertain us. This sport is the greatest in the world filled with the best athletes alive today.
To each and everyone of you, have a very happy Thanksgiving!!
