Betts Update: Tears both MCL and ACL
RB Ladell Betts’ results are in and they are not good. Betts will miss the rest of the season, suffering a tear in both the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial cruciate ligament (MCL). Is is unclear when Betts will be able to make his return to off-season workouts.
The Redskins were already down starting running back Clinton Portis. Portis has been out the last 2 1/2 weeks because of side effects from a concussion suffered against Atlanta. he has already been scratched from this week’s game against Philadelphia.
Rock Cartwright will be the Redskins feature back at least for one more week. Rock had a nice game against Dallas, rushing for 63 yards, averaging over 5 yards per carry, and leading the Redskins in catches with 7 for 73 yards. Cartwright’s status as full time rusher now will likely land Devin Thomas the kick returning slot next week. He took over for Rock on returns yesterday and put together an impressive, hard fought return for 38 yards. Thomas returned 2 kicks averaging 28.0 yards.
