RED ALERT: Caps face Ottawa tonight

redalertRed Alert Feature:  Injured and tired Caps hobble into Ottawa tonight, marking their third game in four days.  Out tonight will be Alexander Semin, Tom Poti, Mike Knuble, Milan Jurcina, and Boyd Gordon.  It is still a bit unclear whether Shaone Morrisonn will return to the lineup tonight.  Both Hershey call ups, 2008 1st round John Carlson and Andrew Gordon are still with the Capitals in Ottawa.

Semin, Poti, Jurcina, and Gordon could return by next weekend, but those returns are not certain.  Mike Knuble meanwhile will be sidelined for a few weeks.

Even Ted understands the effect of the injury bug, but like has also states, caps must move on.

We are battling though injuries and we are tired.

But we have no excuses. We have to keep playing well on the road and be productive. We play 4 games in 6 nights. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves.

This is a tough stretch. It is good to get some many players ice time in the NHL but we need to keep up the productivity of garnering points and playing well short-handed.

Brian Pothier has done fairly well offensively lately, and he needs to, given the wrath of injuries.  He is comfortable doing so to.
