BCS Predictions as of 11/21/09
With the end of college football season fast approaching (four weeks left...) I decided to roll out with some predictions on where some of the top 14 end up in BCS games.
Clearly none of the teams are set in stone except with Ohio State going to the Rose Bowl. Also I choose not to rank the teams according to their BCS standings because they will change tomorrow and could not even be in the BCS top 14 come December.
Also I thought I would have a little fun and see what people have to say about the predictions and would love to hear other predictions.
Citi National Championship Game (Pasadena, California) 1/7/10
Florida/Alabama vs. Texas
Texas has secured a spot in this game if they win out.
Florida and Alabama will be undefeated heading into the SEC Championship.
Whether this game ends up being Florida vs. Texas or Alabama vs. Texas it will be a great game.
FedEx Orange Bowl (Miami, Florida) 1/5/10
Georgia Tech vs. Pittsburgh/Cincinnati/Penn State/Iowa
Georgia has earned their spot in the ACC Championship and I think they will run all over Clemson.
Cincinnati still has to play Pittsburgh which will determine the Big East and will be a great game.
Penn State/Iowa could slide into this game depending on how Orange Bowl officials feel about Cinci or Pitt.
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (Tempe, Arizona) 1/4/10
Oklahoma State/PennState/Iowa vs. TCU/Boise State
Oklahoma State is more then likely to wind up in the top 14 or even the top 10 barring a set back against Oklahoma. And with Texas in the NC they could have a shot at this game.
Penn State/Iowa are both in the hunt for at-large bids and a shot to play in a BCS game but only one team can get in with Ohio State already in the Rose Bowl
TCU is the better team between Boise ranking wise and both are still undefeated and are more then likely to end up their Conference champions. Also they are in the top 10 so who knows maybe both teams could be going to a BCS game?
Allstate Sugar Bowl (New Orleans, Louisiana) 1/1/10
Alabama/Florida vs. Boise State/TCU
Whoever is the lower ranked team following the SEC Championship ends up here.
Boise State/TCU both have a great case for making this game seeing a "non-major" conference has made it here the past two years.
Rose Bowl Presented by Citi "(Pasadena, California) 1/1/10
Ohio State vs. Oregon/Oregon State
Ohio State won the Big Ten so their in.
Oregon/Oregon State- Whoever wins the Civil War next week will be headed to Pasadena.
The 'Unlucky' Ones
Their could be a few teams that end up on the unlikely side such as Oklahoma State, Penn State, Cincinnati (if they lose to Pitt), Iowa, and Boise State.
I wish they would expand it so the top 14 teams go to BCS games but oh well that would most likely call for playoffs and I don't know if that would fly.
