A hero of mine once said, "I do not believe their is pleasure in life. Just a relief of pain. We have to suffer to be on top."

The man that said this is Georges St. Pierre. The stone cold UFC Welterweight Champion from the streets of Montreal.

Saying that there is no pleasure in life, is quite a statement. We might say to ourselves, "But i just got back from vacation."

But, what were you thinking about during your vacation? The fact that you had to go back to work in a few days? That you have finals on monday? That you forgot to pay the gas and water bill? You weren't thinking about the fact that you were at the beach or in the mountains or wherever it was you were, you were thinking unpleasant thoughts.

And what was that vacation? It was a time of relief. I time of relaxation. When you could just sit back and relax. But, of course you didnt. You had way to many things that needed taken care of that you're still worried about. Take this for example...

I'm on spring break. Woot! But, in this week period, I have to write three english papers. And if I dont, I'll fail the class. Now, while I sit at home and do stuff other then write those papers; while I try not to think about school or how much I hate it; I cant shake the thoughts of those three papers that I'm going to have to write sometime this week. Even though I'm having a great spring break so far, I'm still thinking about those damn papers.

So, is Georges statement accurate? Absolutely.

Life has moments of calmness and relaxation, but there is always something that we dont like or enjoy looming on the horizon.

I dont know. Just a thought...
