Blue in the face of the NL West
Forget the fact that the Dodgers have won 10 in a row. What really matters right now in the NL West is that just a couple of weeks ago the West was the Dodgers to lose. As of now, they're in the thick of the NL Wild Card race and inching closer to the San Diego Padres. With games against division foes in the next month or so mostly at home, the division can't overlook the resilient Dodgers who have regained the fountain of youth by way of their veterans. Greg Maddux, Kenny Lofton and fresh off the DL Jeff Kent have had their say in the latest surge that will receive vital contribution from still-injured Nomar Garciaparra.
To avoid the Dodger Blues, division rivals can't simply rely on pitching. The Dodger bats have been consistently loud and clutch. They can't simply outhit them either, given Dodger pitching has been stable and has received quality outings like Brad Penny's strong eight innings against the Rockies. As for defense, the Dodgers have committed one error in their current ten-game winning streak. Needless to say, the Dodgers aim at continuing to feel the Blues in the face of the NL West division.
