Falcons-Hawkeyes: Bowling Green Struggles Once Again, Falls 68-46 to Iowa

Bowling Green (1-2) turned in another dismal performance against Iowa (1-2) last night in a game they needed to win to gain respect as an improving team. Their shooting woes continued as they went 39 percent from the field and 33 percent from behind the arc on their way to a 68-46 loss.

This loss shows the Bowling Green faithful there is still a lot of work left to do before this team can even make a run at a MAC Championship. They need to get consistent play from their starters and it was blatantly obvious during this game when only one starter finished in double figures scoring.

Marc Larson had 12 points for the Falcons and was the team's leading scorer and Dee Brown added eight points coming off the bench. Only two Falcons had five rebounds or more, Otis Polk with five and Scott Thomas with six. The lack of rebounding by Bowling Green’s big men will spell disaster during the rest of this season if improvements are not made.

Iowa got its first win and was up by 23 points at one point. Led by Anthony Tucker with 13 points and Matt Gatens with 14 points, the Hawkeyes had no problem disposing of a struggling Bowling Green squad. They shot a season high 47 percent from the field including 48 percent from three-point range.

The Falcons will try and rebound against the Milwaukee Panthers (1-2) on Saturday, in hopes of getting back to .500.  The rest of the preseason will give us a clear definition of what this Bowling Green squad is capable.  The Falcons need to enter MAC play above .500 in order to keep slim hopes for a NIT or possible NCAA berth alive.
