At the beginning of the 2008 MLB season, there was much hope for the Kansas City Royals' offense.

Young prospects Billy Butler and Alex Gordon were coming back, along with the offseason acquisition of Jose Guillen. Butler and Gordon are two players that the Royals would like to build their team around, and Guillen has the veteran bat that just about every team would like to add to its lineup.

Unfortunately for the Royals, both Guillen and Gordon got off to somewhat slow starts, and Billy Butler has been sent down to AAA Omaha for his lack of consistency at the plate.

Many media outlets and fans have doubted the Royals' offense from the beginning of the season, saying that it was not producing like it should be.

It's safe to say that Jose Guillen has started silencing some of his critics. Guillen has been on an absolute tear of late, hitting .419 in his last 10 games. During that span, the Kansas City outfielder has banged four HRs while knocking in 12 runs, along with collecting 18 hits and scoring seven runs. Plain and simple, the man has been on fire.

Meanwhile, Alex Gordon is heating up as well. He has hammered two HRs in his last three games, and he is up to seven on the young season, along with 29 RBI.

Time will tell if this recently resurgent Royals offense can keep it going, but at least for now, diehard fans have something to cheer about for the Royals' near future.
