Sergei Fedorov is clearly not what he used to be. His best season AFTER he left the Red Wings was with the Ducks in 2003-04 and he only had 65 points.
Now don't get me wrong, that is a very decent season, but Fedorov is the type of player who should be averaging a point a game every season with a huge +/-.
He had 13 points in 18 games with the Caps, which is very good. I think Fedorov being traded from arguably the best team in the NHL (Detroit) to any other team (Ducks in this case) brought Fedorov down a few pegs, he lost confidence and it shows in the stats.
In 2005-06, when he got traded to the Blue Jackets, his points dropped to 43 points in 62 games and 42 points in 73 games. Now seeing some of the stats makes you wonder...are the trades bringing Sergei's confidence and skill level down?
He was happy to play for Detroit for 13 seasons and he proved himself by getting PLENTY of points for the Red Wings.
Now Sergei is 39 years old. Is he out of gas?
Or...will the Caps take him on for another year to see if he can perform like the old days?
I think if Sergei plays in the 2008-09 season, he will be one of the most interesting people to watch throughout the year.

Fedorov was the best player on the ice in more than half of those games he played in Washington. He, Ovechkin and Semin were the three best players in the World Championship; he'll [hopefully] return to Washington.
