10 reasons I am excited for the NBA season
Now that it has gotten started what are the reasons that we should be excited for this year? Why care about the NBA in November? Why do I love Mark Cuban and Charles Barkley? Why do I hate Kobe? Who do I think are the top seeds in the east and west? Who is my sleeper team? What bold predictions will i make about a rookie? STOP ASKING ALL THESE COP QUESTIONS AND JUST READ THE ARTICLE.
#1 The Boston Celtics
Last year the Celtics had 4 major problems KG out, no big man that could guard Rashard Lewis on the wings, no depth in the front court, and ran out of steam after playing the longest series in NBA history. Every single one of these problem has been solved Kevin Garnett is back and we are being told he is healthy and will not have any knee problems this year, Rasheed Wallace adds front court depth, can play center or power forward, and someone that can always put the hush on Rashard Lewis, they added Shelden Willams and Marquis Daniels, and all those thing will make it so that they don't have to play 7 games that all go to overtime in the first round. Words can not describe how giddy I am about Rasheed Wallace he adds toughness, championship rings, and a big body to an already elite team. Now that Rondo got his new contract and doesn't feel betrayed by the team I think we will see the best he has ever been, I am talking a triple double threat every game people, and the fact that he does not have to be a leader there will be no pressure and he can just keep on progressing. They have a great GM who can go out and make deals if there are any issues come all star break time. My only concern is a back up point guard and that can be fixed with one phone call to Allen Iverson, tell me that you don't think that A.I.+Sheed= the most interesting team in the NBA...maybe ever...if only they could swing a deal for Artest hmmmmmmm.....
I predict a solid 63 win season for the Celtics and the number one seed in the easr.
#2 The L.A. Kobes
As much as it pains me to admit it the Lakers are good, really freaking good, they had one weak spot last year and that was small forward and now they have Ron Artest I'm scared and you should be too. I never jumped on the Trevor Ariza bandwagon he got far too much money from Houston and loosing him was a blessing. The only thing that I can hope for is that this is the year that Kobe starts heading downhill and proves he is past his prime or he looses his hunger now that he has that ring without Shaq. Another thing that scares me is that a bunch of weird Lakers fans told goodnieghbor stuff that the Lakers were going to win the championship every year, and if anyone would know that it would be a lot of drunk Lakers fans at a parade right?? if you haven't seen that video here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lIbwUMG7wU. I predict a 57 win season from the Kobes and a number one seed in the west.
#3 Mark Cuban
Love him or hate him Mark Cuban is never boring he always has something to say and usually what he says gets him fined that makes him awesome in my book. Mark Cuban is good for at least one six figure fine every year and now he has a Twitter account, if you do not follow Mark Cuban on Twitter you should because I would bet my life that something really really good is gonna come out via Twitter this season. Last year he said that he would cut every single player on his team if they didn't shape up, would you take that seriously with any other owner no you would not but with Mark Cuban you have no idea what he is going to do. The only thing that might stop him not say something amazing this year is the fact that the Mavs are good my sleeper team of the year I think he has a championship caliber team and if they do win the championship I can't wait to see him rip into Stern and everyone else in the NBA that prays every single night that he just leaves. Mark Cuban you are a true hero and I salute you.
#4 Weird NBA haircuts
Name one thing cooler than a guy with awesome hair, you can't. It is a fact that the NBA has the best hair around be it Mikki Moores dreds, Greg Odens weird to look at mohawk, Ron Artests crazy crap drawn all over his head, whatever you call Marquis Daniels hair, Dirk's beautiful flowing locks, The Birdman's nasty gelled up fauxhawk, or Steve Nash's gross sweaty greasy hair it is all cool. The NBA is the only sport where you aren't hidden by a hat or helmet so it is important to stand out. A great set of hair takes a great player to an elite player or a role player to someone we care about. Look at Adam Morrison had decent hair and was great in college, came to the NBA shaved it and look at him now riding the Kobes bench. Imagine if Lebron had dreds everyone would love that guy, if he had dreds he could leave Cleveland and Cavs fans would still root for him and that is the power of awesome hair.
When did the NBA trade deadline become something of importance? I remember like two years ago when the NBA deadline was about as eventful as the NFL one, you would get role players sent to the good teams but it was never any names that you recognized. I think this year is gonna shock you with how many trades go down all the bad teams are gonna clear cap space like crazy so they can tell their fans that they are having a rough year because Bosh, Wade, or Lebron are coming next year. Trades I can see happening: Joe Johnson getting shipped off if the Hawks are struggling, Jermane O'neill gone to a contender down the stretch, Celtics picking up a Center (I'm afraid to say Amare but holy crap I want Amare), and honestly it would not shock me if Shaq is someplace else come years end. It all depends on who is contending and who has the money to actually compete for Bron Bron next year.
#6 The Pheonix Suns
Attention anyone that has not started watching the NBA this season: the Suns are the most fun team in the NBA again. With Shaq gone they can go back to their fun loving running up and down the court basketball. Steve Nash looks like he is not dead and is putting himself back in MVP watch, which by the way if he wins three MVP's he is a hall of famer. Amare is back to his beastly ways and is a serious threat to drop 50 on someone this year, that's right i said 50. The Suns are going to make that former coach that decided to leave for New York regret that so so so so bad this year, last year they both lost the Suns looked slow and awful and the Knicks were the Knicks and they needed to find a way back to eachother but now the Suns are great and he will be at home crying come May-June. While I love this team to watch this is not a team that can be taken as a serious title contender, they prove every year that they can play amazing all regular season and fall flat in the postseason, why you ask, because that style of play will never win a championship that is a Chris Hall promise, if the suns even make it to the finals this year I will buy 10 people that read this article a plane ticket to Houston so they can personally kick me in the nuts.
Is it bad form to say next year is one of the best parts of this year? I think not because next year will effect this year more than we know. We have no idea what teams have planned, but luckily for you people I love making guesses on where people will end up based on no facts at all. #1 Lebron: he is going to New York, he loves it there he loves the Yankees, MSG, and most importantly they tanked the last couple of years so they can get him next year if Lebron has a heart he will see how flattering that is and bolt Cleveland. #2 Dwayne Wade: I think he either stays in Miami or heads home to the Bulls, my mind says he stays in Miami but my gut says hello Chicago, don't know what that means but there it is. #3 Chris Bosh: I think he is going to New York with Bron Bron and the odds go way up on him landing there if Lebron doesn't he is the only person that there is no hope for them to stay where they are. #4 Dirk, I think he stays in Dallas unless Wade doesn't go to Chicago then I think that is a great fit and the Bulls would for sure consider it. #5 Steve Nash I think he heads to New York if they can't get both Lebron and Bosh, he is great in that system and the have no point guard. And #6 Ray Allen, I'm only putting this on here so I can beg Danny Ainge please please do not bring him back put that money to someone not on the decline i repeat resign Pierce and say bye to Allen bring in someone like Joe Johnson or Amare.
#8 Brandon Jennings
I was wrong okay I was very wrong, I thought that 10 to the bucks was too high for Brandon Jennings, I thought that he was a 15-20 type player and I was wrong. Have you seen him play this year the kid is a beast he put up 45 in the second half the other night, he looks like a less diva version of Allen Iverson the real difference being I would build a team around him and I think he could play with other stars, whereas A.I. needs the ball every time you go down the court and is a cancer to other stars. I don't wanna get carried away on someone based on the first 11 games of their career but I am ready to call him rookie of the year and a one day MVP (too much?). Also on a side not look at his hair it is awesome thats what I want in my NBA player talent and cool hair is that too much to ask, I say no.
#9 Sir Charles Barkley
I love basketball season because that is when Chuck comes on TV and he brightens my day every single time i see his beautiful face. Name one commentator as funny as Charles Barkley, you can't he is a freaking riot. My favorite thing about him is that he is honest he wont bs you about players if someone sucks he will tell you they suck, but unlike some people (cough cough Rodney Harrison and Reggie Miller cough cough) he will not go out of his way to bad mouth someone just so people are talking about him tomorrow and when you are Charles effing Barkley people will talk about you no matter what just because you're awesome. He wants to be a GM and that makes me sad because I will miss him on TV but here is the greatest idea I have ever had put him on the Mavs as a co-GM with Mark Cuban that is instantly the coolest team the world has ever seen.
#10 The rookies
This was supposed to be a terrible year if rookies except Blake Griffin, I completely disagree in every way. I think Griffin is a bust he has no shot and isn't big enough to post up on NBA power forwards like Amare and Dirk and KG. At the start of the year before I saw Brandon Jennings I was ga ga over Thabeet and I still love him he is a young Mutumbo and I know that is what everyone says but I promise you the only human on this planet that is as big of Thabeet fan as me is his mother. Another rookie I love? Dajuan Blair he is a beast he is by far the steal of the draft he went in the 2nd round and late in the 2nd round, add on top of the fact that the kid is a freak he can now learn from Tim Duncan the best power forward ever in my opinion. Also James Harden not sure why but I really really like him, maybe it is the beard, sorry i can't offer more insight.
