Montreal Canadiens: No Hardware For Carbo

Matt EichelSenior Writer IJune 12, 2008

Despite coaching the Montreal Canadiens to the top of the  Eastern Conference, head coach Guy Carbonneau fell short on winning the 2008 Jack Adams Trophy for coach of the year.

But seriously, who could blame those who voted on picking Bruce Boudreau after he took a team with no playoff future mid-season to a division title.  Very impressive stuff.

Yet, the Canadiens can look back now on the 2007-08 season with a finished sense of accomplishment.  Carbonneau's 196 points came in second to Boudreau's 208 points in the voting scheme.

As for other awards, Canadiens nnetmider Carey Price was named to the 2007-08 NHL All-Rookie Team, along with Calder candidates Chicago Blackhawks Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, Washington Capitals Nicklas Backstrom, Atlanta's Tobias Enstrom and Edmonton's Tom Gilbert.

Alex Kovalev, whose 83 point resurgence helped the Canadiens immensely, was named to the NHL Second All-Star Team as the Right Winger, alongside San Josecentreman Joe Thornton and Detroit Red Wings winger Henrik Zetterberg with New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur in goal and Boston Bruin captain Zdeno Chara and San Jose Shark defender Brian Campbell.
