The transfer of Jordan Crawford, along with the losses of Arnon Basset, Jamarcus Ellis, and eight other members of the Indiana squad of last year, has let the Hoosier basketball team's chances of remaining a superpower in the Big Ten slip away.
New Hoosier coach Tom Crean will have a lot of work on his hands rebuilding the program Kelvin Sampson effectively destroyed. With only two returning players from last year, junior forward Kyle Taber and walk-on freshman Brett Finkelmeier (according to the Indiana Daily Student), the team will have to recreate its former identity—or work even harder to establish itself as a new entity.
The team faces hard times, to be sure. However, hopes on campus remain high by my standards. While I predict that the Hoosiers will not win more than FIVE games next year, a poll conducted by Insidethehall.com shows that over 65 percent of those who voted believed that IU would win more than ten games next year.
There is some news the Cream and Crimson can feel excited about. Crean recently signed Tijan Jobe, a seven-foot tall center, and is still in the hunt for the best remaining member of the class of 2008, Emmanuel Negedu, according to the Indiana Daily Student.
So there may be hope yet—but I sincerely doubt it. I n my opinion, the Hoosiers will be lucky to beat Northwestern next year, let alone their other conference games and non-conference competitions.
Five wins. That's my prediction.
And that's if we're LUCKY.

Five wins?! C'mon now! Tom Crean alone can bring them 12, at least. Even with the worst of teams. He's a great coach.

coaches still need great talent, or at least something to work with. he has neither. besides, even if my guess is a little on the short end, id rather underestimate them and be wrong than overestimate them and be wrong. call me cynical, but that's just how i feel.

Crean doesnt have great talent right now but he does have a core of players to work with and build around.
