By Chad Samuels.
Last week there was a little controversy on who I named as my starters at QB. Some were concerned that I did not know who to start. I suggested that if you use a QBBC (quarterback by committee) approach consider using Carolina Panthers QB Jake Delhomme and Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford. Stafford came in with statistics just above what I predicted him to produce with 209 yards passing and a touchdown. Delhomme came in slightly above the 15 fantasy points (16). I predicted for him as well. While nobody is perfect, I am not quite as nuts as some may think.
This week the quarterback starts come from more accepted places. These suggestions are for those who need to employ a QBBC approach. The first start this week is New York Giants QB Eli Manning who is coming off a bye that has given the Giants a chance to regroup and rest up. Teams that come off byes usually fare a little better in their first game back. Another reason to start him is who the Giants are playing; they play the Atlanta Falcons at home.
Over the last three weeks the Atlanta Falcons have surrendered 711 passing yards and five touchdowns to quarterbacks. This includes two games where their defense played Delhomme and Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell. Neither of these quarterbacks are as talented as Manning. Eli should be a very good play this week. Expect him to exceed these averages of 237 yards passing and 1.67 touchdowns...
