After a 21-48 Blowout to Oregon State, Washington (UW) watched there bowl hopes go down the drain. Now 3-7. The Huskies have two games left against Washington State (WSU) and California (CAL). Washinton State is now the most important game left; it’s the Apple Cup the classic rival game. Washington is 3-7 and Will face a Washington State team that has not won a PAC-10 game in almost a year, and has not beat a ranked team in over four years. Two of Washington’s Three wins have been against team’s with a winning record including USC who at the time of the defeat was ranked number 3 in the country. Washington on paper is the better team. Leading the Way is Quarterback Jake Locker who leads the Pac-10 in total yards per game. Washington State will need their young Quarterback Jeff Tuel (who is a true freshman) to start if Washington State wants a chance at a victory. Last year the Apple cup was horrible to watch as Washington State pulled out a miracle comeback with a Hail Mary pass on 4th and long. This Apple Cup I doubt will be competitive as Washington State is possible the worst team in division 1 football right now. Thier only win has come against SMU in overtime. The rest of the games have been blowouts the closest loss was 27-14 to Arizona State. Washington is ranked higher than Washington State in every single possible category. The game is also at Husky Stadium, which is a huge advantage to Washington, and the crowd noise has been loud enough this year to shake the stadium, it will be interesting to see how Washington State will respond to the noise. Anything is possible I suppose but seeing the level of competition WSU has shown I hate to say it but this will be a one sided affair. I wish Washington state and Washington were both good but that’s just not the case. My prediction is 37-10 Washington wins. Yes I am a husky fan but I doubt even WSU fans think there team will win this. I don’t bash Washington State fans because last year Washington went winless and Washington State beat them. This however is not last year this is 2009 not 2008 and it would be one of the biggest upsets in Apple Cup history if Washington State comes up with a win, not really because Washington is good just because Washington State is that bad.
