Bowling Green’s big men led the charge toward the first win of the season for the Falcons. Scott Thomas had 15 points and 4 rebounds and was matched by Otis Polk who added 14 points and 6 rebounds.
The bench also came through for Bowling Green, adding 22 of the 67 total points for the team. Erik Marschall and Daion Goins each added seven points off the bench.
The Falcons led 39-22 at half, and coasted in the second half on their way to a 45-67 victory. Bowling Green shot 51 percent from the field including 43 percent from three-point range. They out rebounded Wayne State 35-26 and dominated the floor with a suffocating defense.
Wayne State was over matched and undermanned for the duration of the game. The Tartars shot a measly 36 percent from the field and a shocking 10 percent from behind the arc.
Jerry Oden and Ike Udanoh were the bright spots for a struggling Wayne State team. Oden had 16 points and seven rebounds, while Udanoh managed 10 points and five rebounds.
Bowling Green’s next game is at Xavier (1-0) on November 17 at 7:30 PM. The Falcons will need a stellar effort in order to over come what should be their toughest game in their pre-conference schedule.
