Redskins Sign Safety, Release Punter
ESPN's Adam Scheftler is reporting via twitter that the Washington Redskins have signed safety Lendy Holmes off of their practice squad, and released punter Sam Paulescu. Paulescu signed with Washington on November 6th.
The releasing of Paulescu signals that the Redskins normal punter Hunter Smith is ready to hit the field again. Smith has been bothered by a groin injury that has kept him out most of the 2009 season.
Holmes adds depth at safety where the Redskins lost Chris Horton for the rest of the season. Horton was dealing with a toe injury, and after surgery, he was placed on injured reserve. Holmes attended Oklahoma.
